Kyrgyzstan

International Alert has been working in Kyrgyzstan since 2010, where our programmes have ranged from high-level dialogue at the government level to grassroots prevention of violence.

We have been involved in developing networks of community mediators and promoting civic education, tolerance and non-violence with youth, including cross-border confidence building with young people from Tajikistan. We have used an education methodology that encourages critical thinking, self-awareness and empathy, as well as active participation in public life.

This work is crucial for building the capacity of communities to manage conflicts effectively and influence peaceful social change.
