In Liberia we support greater social cohesion and social and economic inclusion.
We support communities in understanding the terms of natural resource concession agreements and facilitate peaceful negotiations with authorities and companies. We support dialogue meetings between communities and the police, and train the police on respecting human rights and ensuring their activities are 'conflict sensitive'. We also promote community-led analysis of local security threats, to improve the coordination, effectiveness and accountability of security services.
Our work is important because it helps to tackle the problems of violent conflict around natural resource management and the lack of trust between communities and the government.
We have been working in Liberia since 1993.
