Being bold for change

We are proud to join this year’s International Women’s Day campaign to #BeBoldForChange.

Across the week, we are highlighting the stories of inspirational women. From Dutch diplomats and youth activists in the Middle East through to leading peace practitioners and advocates working in challenging areas of Africa and Eurasia, these women come from a full range of backgrounds and are at very different stages in their lives.

What unites them is their remarkable drive and boldness to bring about peaceful change and stand up for women’s rights, both locally and globally, even when faced with violence and oppression.

Explore their stories below, and share your thoughts on social media by tagging us on Twitter and Facebook, using the hashtags #BeBoldForChange and #IWD2017.

You can also find out more about our work on gender issues here.

A ‘peacebuilder’ can be anyone, a doctor, a shop worker or a student for instance. They just create peace in very different ways. Peacebuilders come from all walks of life, what they really have in common is a genuine desire – and conviction – to do what’s best for their community.
