Senior Programme Design and Assessment Officer, Middle East and North Africa
Ruth supports the development and assessment of Alert’s work across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Prior to this she was Alert’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Coordinator, leading on strengthening Alert’s monitoring, evaluation and learning systems, processes and tools. Before joining Alert, she worked with a number of international NGOs and the UK government, providing technical advice and capacity-building support, and managing peacebuilding and armed violence prevention programmes in central and east Africa, MENA and Latin America, with a focus on programme design and strengthening monitoring, evaluation and learning and impact assessment. She has an MA in International Law and Conflict Resolution, within which she specialised in mediation, peacebuilding, transitional justice and reconciliation, focusing on MENA and central Africa. Ruth also holds an Advanced Certificate in Adlerian counselling from the Adlerian Society UK Institute for Individual Psychology.
Ruth has published and co-authored a number of peacebuilding articles, including: Transitional justice in Burundi, The Encyclopedia of Transitional Justice, Cambridge University Press, 2013; Understanding and addressing needs of victims and survivors of explosive remnants of war in western Sahara, Action On Armed Violence, 2012; and Insights: International institutions, aid effectiveness and peacebuilding in Burundi, International Alert, 2011.
