Dr Abdourahamane M Saley

Sahel Programme Coordinator

Abdourahamane M. Saley is the Sahel Programme Coordinator. His role is to work alongside our Sahel Hub  Director to provide strategic and operational leadership for International Alert’s programme in the region. He provides technical and operational leadership to ensure the effectiveness and sustainable impact of our work in the Sahel, as well as quality assurance for partner activities.

He ensures that all interventions in the Sahel are carried out in a conflict-sensitive and gender-responsive manner. He has extensive experience in coordinating consortium projects (multisectoral and multi-stakeholder), programme development/management, high-quality analysis/research, context monitoring, and the Nexus and Sustainable Solutions approaches.

Before joining our team, Dr Saley served as a conflict sensitivity and advocacy specialist (consortium manager) at Search for Common Ground. He has worked as an analyst at Mercy Corps, the National Democratic Institute, and the Democratic Governance Support Program (PAGOD), among others. Saley has worked successively in Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Chad, and the DRC. Saley holds a PHD in International Relations and two Master’s degrees: an MBA from Amity University and a Master’s degree in Socio-Didactics from the University of Saint-Etienne, France.
